COLLECTION OF LEATHER TILES
- What
are leather tiles?
Made from vegetable tanned cattle-hide, it is essentially
a by-product of our food industry. It is 100% leather.
- Why
buy leather tiles?
They are a luxurious yet affordable product oozing individuality
and sophistication. They create a welcoming atmosphere wherever
they are laid. They soften and muffle sounds making them
suitable for business and study areas. They are warm and
feel great under your feet.
- Are
leather tiles suitable in all circumstances?
Leather is a natural fibre and thus can be adversely affected
by water/moisture and we would recommend extreme caution
when considering a bathroom or an area where dampness may
occur. We would urge anybody to seek advice when choosing
leather tiles to ensure that they are suitable for the environment
in which they are to be fitted.
- How
durable is the leather?
Comparing a leather floor to the ever popular laminate flooring,
it will become generally marked or scratched but the floor
will reflect the lifestyle of the environment in which it
has been placed. It will generally improve with age taking
on all characteristics of general living.
- How
water-resistant is the product?
All our tiles are treated with a type of "scotchguard"
during the leather process. This acts as an additional resistance
to accidental spillages. It would be prudent however, to
point out at this stage, that this treatment will wear off
in time. Therefore if the tiles are to be used as a floor
covering we would suggest regular waxing to maintain the
performance of your tiles. It is recommended that spillages
be absorbed quickly with a damp cloth
- What
size of tiles are available?
Our tile ranges are currently available in the sizes of
100mm x 200mm & 300mm x 300mm. Custom sized tiles are
available at an additional cost, price on application. We
are limited to the size of the natural material available
and so 300mm x 300mm is currently our maximum tile size
available. Alternatively, the leather can be sold as a whole
unit for your own cutting, bearing in mind the physical
constraints of this natural product.
- What
colours are available?
Essentially we are offering the tiles in two ranges. Each
range has a set of standard colours available, (see individual
range information). Bespoke colouring is available on all
the ranges at an additional cost, price on application.
- How
thick are the tiles?
The Russet tiles are levelled to approximately 3.5mm thick,
whilst the Buffalo tiles are levelled to 4.5mm thick.
- Will
the tiles be properly edged?
The tiles are cut with an accurate square edged press knife
to ensure that they butt up to one another cleanly avoiding
any gaps in between. Once all the tiles have been laid,
a good wipe over with a clean cloth, and where possible,
a polish containing beeswax will help blend any colour variations
within seams and tiles and will result in a more beautiful
floor. No grouting is required.
- Is
there a minimum order?
A minimum of 4 sq.m is required to process an order.
- How
do I care for my leather floor or wall panelling?
A damp cloth or careful vacuuming is suggested for the normal
maintenance. We would advise against all detergents. There
is also the alternative option of leather wipes. Applying
a polish containing beeswax approximately twice yearly will
allow the leather to wear well and develop its own rich
warm patina giving it its individuality.
